You Don’t Have to Grieve Alone
Camp Healing Tree
Coming soon August 14 to 16, 2026
Camp Healing Tree is an overnight experience where campers get a camp experience intertwined with activities that relate to grief. Campers will be able to connect with others with shared experiences, helping them know that we are not alone in our grief.
Camp Day
Coming soon in October 2026
Camp Day is an opportunity for grieving youth ages 7-17 to be with friends their age who have also experienced the death of someone close to them. Connecting with others with shared experiences helps us know that we are not alone in our grief.
FAQ
-
Campers must be between the ages of 7-17 at the time of camp.
-
While there are different types of grief and loss, Brooke’s Place programming is specific to the death of a significant person in the child’s life.
-
No. Brooke's place invites campers to apply no matter who died, how they died, or when.
-
Each camp group and cabin is made up of approximately eight campers. Brooke’s Place staff members are on-site throughout the weekend. In addition, every group has multiple camp Buddies and Facilitator volunteers who stay with them throughout the entire camp weekend. We have Nurses & Mental Health Professionals who volunteer over the weekend as well. All volunteers go through a background check, volunteer interview & training process.
-
Our application process allows you to share concerns that you or your camper may have about coming to camp. We interview each camper & their family to learn more about the camper’s grief story and any needs they may have. During the interview, you and your camper can also ask questions and learn more about camp weekend.
Camp isn’t just bonfires, games, and crafts. It’s where kids like me, whose sister, brother, parent, or friend has died, can feel like ourselves again.
You don’t have to be a grief counselor or an expert. Just show up ready to paint, toss water balloons, talk if we want, or sit with us so we know we’re not alone. Just be someone we can count on.
You help us laugh again and feel safe enough to cry. Some camps are overnight, others are day-long adventures. All of them are unforgettable for kids like me and people like you.
Registration for Volunteers will open on February 2nd.

FAQ
-
We welcome returning and new volunteers to join us at Camp Healing Tree weekend or our Day Camps each year! If interested, the first step would be to complete a volunteer application.. Once an application is received, a Brooke’s Place team member will reach out to review the next steps needed. Volunteer roles that interact directly with campers (e.g., Facilitator, Camper Buddy and Care Team) will require completion of an in-person Facilitator Training before camp weekend. If you have already completed an in-person Facilitator Training, you will be able to indicate this on your application.
-
We have many volunteer role opportunities that help to support camp weekend! There are options for volunteer roles that work directly with campers and less direct roles that support ‘behind-the-scenes’ activities. Please see the camp volunteer application to learn more about the different volunteer role opportunities and requirements.
-
Yes, all volunteers will complete a criminal history background check before camp.
-
Volunteers interested in the Runner Role must be 16 & older. All other weekend camp roles require that you are 18 & up. Volunteers who are under the age of 18 require parent/ guardian consent and waivers.
